Ramsey Smokes the Competition by Setting New Course Time

Youngwood, Pa. - Freshman Rachel Ramsey (North Versailles, Pa./East Allegheny) opens up the 2013-14 season by not only finishing first in the 3rd Annual Westmoreland County Community College Cross Country Invitational, but also went on to set a new course record with a time of 20:53.

Another strong competitor for the women's team today was freshman Kasey Dansak (McKeesport, Pa./McKeesport Area), who went on to set a personal best time of 24:51. Sophomore returner Rob Meier (Harrison City, Pa./Penn-Trafford) had a solid turnout by placing fifth for the men's team, completing the run in 18:30.

Solid performances from freshman David Markotan (Elizabeth, Pa./Elizabeth Forward), who accomplished 17th with a time of 20:25, freshman Jesse Cheek (Elizabeth, Pa./Elizabeth Forward), who finished 19th with a time of 21:00 and freshman Marcus Slivinski (Plainville, Ct./Plainville), who completed 24th with a time of 26:00.

WCCC hosted Penn State Greater Allegheny, Pitt-Greensburg, Mount Aloysius, La Roche, Penn State Fayette and CCAC.

Greater Allegheny women's and men's cross country are set to host an invitational next Saturday, September 14th.  The meet is set to begin at 10 AM.
