GA Cross Country Races to Their First Finish of 2014

Youngwood, Pa. - The Penn State Greater Allegheny women's and men's cross country teams completed their first race of the 2014-15 season at Westmoreland County Community College, Saturday morning.

Speedy sophomore Rachel Ramsey (North Versailles, Pa./East Allegheny) opened up the women's heat by not only placing first overall, but also replaced her personal and course record time at WCCC. She completed the course with a time of 20:22, shaving off 31 seconds from last year. Sophomore Melissa Loftus (Oxford, Pa./Oxford) swiped fifth place as she finished 23:20.

For Greater Allegheny on the men's side, freshman Codie Buglar (Elizabeth, Pa./Yough) finished 11th with a time of 20:31. Sophomore Marcus Slivinsky (Plainville, Ct./Plainville) crossed at 24:28 before freshman Nathaniel Muse (Staten Island, N.Y./Petrides) finished the race at 26:24. Senior David Buckholtz (Philadelphia, Pa./Science Leadership Academy) rounded up Greater Allegheny's runners as he finished in 29:19.

The men placed 4th out of Potomac State, Pitt-Greensburg, Mount Aloysius, Penn State Fayette, Westmoreland County Community College and Community College of Allegheny County.

Penn State Greater Allegheny cross country looks forward to their next meet, as they welcome teams to GA Saturday, September 13th. The women's heat is set to start at 1:00 p.m.
