A First Place Finish for Greater Allegheny Cross Country at PSUAC Championships

University Park, Pa. - The Penn State Greater Allegheny cross country team not only raced for a first place finish, Saturday morning at the Penn State University Athletic Conference Championships, but also awarded three All-Conference student-athletes.

Sophomore Rachel Ramsey (North Versailles, Pa./East Allegheny) finished 1st overall, sitting herself as the Penn State University Athletic Conference Individual Champion with a time of 25:49. With the finish, Rachel earned herself the accolade of First-Team All-Conference. 

Sophomore Melissa Loftus (Oxford, Pa./Oxford) completed the 6k race in 12th place with a time of 30:13. This finish landed her the honor of Second-Team All-Conference. Freshman Amanda Trimble (Carnegie, Pa./Chartiers Valley) crossed the finish line in 15th place in a time of 30:57. Freshman Huiying Qin (-/China) placed 27th with a time of 36:33 and freshman Binrui Cai (-/China) completed the race in 30th place at a mark of 37:15.

The women's team came in 3rd place overall in the conference with 50 points. Penn State Worthington-Scranton came in first with 34 points and Penn State Brandywine placed in 2nd with a score of 42 points.

Freshman Codie Buglar (Elizabeth, Pa./Yough) competed as the lone runner for the Greater Allegheny men's side through the 8k. Buglar placed 14th overall witha time of 35:39. With the finish, he earned himself the Second-Team All-Conference award for his efforts through the contest. 

The Greater Allegheny Lions look onward to the United States Collegiate Athletic Association National Championships in Syracuse, New York. Races are set for November 6th and 7th.
