Greater Allegheny Cross Country Complete USCAA National Championship

Syracuse, N.Y. - Through rain, sleet and snow, the Penn State Greater Allegheny men's and women's cross country teams competed in the 2014-15 United States Collegiate Athletic Association National Championship in Syracuse, New York, Friday morning.

The women competed first, as sophomore Rachel Ramsey (North Versailles, Pa./East Allegheny) finished the 6k first for the women in a time of 26:19.7. She paced each mile around 7:04 and sat herself in 36th place.

Freshman Amanda Trimble (Carnegie, Pa./Chartiers Valley) was the next competitor for Greater Allegheny to cross the finish line, as she completed the race in 30:00.8. She finished in 103rd place, pacing each mile 8:03.

Sophomore Melissa Loftus (Oxford, Pa./Oxford) finished in 128th place with a time of 31:53.2, pacing each mile 8:34. The Greater Allegheny women wrapped up the race as freshman Huiying Qin (China/-). Qin finished the 6k in 33:39.2, pacing each mile 9:02.

Greater Allegheny was unfortunately incomplete, not gaining a placed finish.

For the men, freshman Codie Buglar (Elizabeth, Pa./Yough) was the lone Greater Allegheny student-athlete. He placed in 110th place with a time of 32:45.4. Buglar paced the 8k with 6:36 miles. With just one competitor, the Greater Allegheny men's cross country team did not place.

With the finish, the Penn State Greater Allegheny men's and women's cross country teams hang up their running shoes for the academic year.
