GA Cross Country Finish Their First Race of the Season at WCCC

Youngwood, Pa. - The Penn State Greater Allegheny men's and women's cross country teams competed Saturday morning at Westmoreland County Community College, where the men's team finished in 3rd place overall.

The lone competitor for the women, freshman Casey Wash (McKeesport, Pa./McKeesport), finished in 18th place with an overall time of 30:44.

Freshman Michael Burchlaw (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills) finished first for the Greater Allegheny men with a time of 16:10, good enough to sit in third place overall. Freshman Ellis Massiah (Waterford, Ct./-) completed in 18:18, putting himself in eighth overall. Freshman Andrew Bradley (Pittsburgh, Pa./Norwin) finished the race 20th overall with a time of 19:50 as freshman Derek Pribanic (Penn Township, Pa./Penn-Trafford) finished in 20:34. Sophomore Codie Buglar (Elizabeth, Pa./Yough) wrapped up the male competitors for GA in 21:04, 22nd place.

"The field was very strong in the men's race," said head coach Mark Bacco. "All five male student-athletes finished the WCCC course under the course record time today."

Greater Allegheny looks forward to next week, as they host their Annual Penn State Greater Allegheny Invitational in McKeesport. The race is set to begin at 1 p.m.
