Leira Finishes 19th at Frostburg Invitational
Frostburg, Md. – The Penn State Greater Allegheny Cross Country team continued their 2017/18 season as they traveled down to Frostburg, Maryland to take part in the Frostburg State Invitational on Saturday. There was a field of 15 different teams and 60 total runners in the race.
Sophomore Fernando Leira (Maid, Spain/Great Mills (md.)) lead PSUGA finishing the eight kilometer race with a time of 31:40 which was good for 19th overall. Leira continues to improve as the season moves along as he turned in his best time for an 8K race this season. His previous 8K was at the Penn State Greater Allegheny Invitational when he finished with a time of 31:48.
He keeps trying to improve as the Penn State University Athletic Conference Championships are approaching on October 28th at Norlo Park near the campus of Penn State Mont Alto. Leira came in 4th out of PSUAC runners at the Mont Alto Invitational last week and will try to improve for the championships.
The next race for PSUGA will be the PSUAC Championships which will be held in Norlo Park near the campus of Penn State Mont Alto at 10 a.m.
