Women's Basketball Advances to PSUAC Championship Game

Penn State Schuylkill Women's Basketball advances to the championship round of the PSUAC playoffs following their 63-41 victory over Penn State Greater Allegheny.

A made jump shot by Tajae Stevenson (Patterson, NJ / International High School) with 4:53 remaining in the first quarter capped off a 12-0 run to start the contest for Schuylkill. Following a Greater Allegheny basket on the very next possession, Schuylkill went on an 11-2 run to finish the quarter. Schuylkill held Greater Allegheny to 11 percent shooting, 2-18 from the field in the first quarter while shooting 64 percent in the quarter.

Schuylkill carried their momentum over from the first period, going on an 8-0 run to begin the second quarter. Schuylkill continued to excel on the defensive side of the ball, holding Greater Allegheny to just 7 percent, 1-14 shooting in the second quarter.

Greater Allegheny began to fight late in the contest, outscoring Schuylkill 19-15 in the final quarter, however time was on Schuylkill's side as they cruised to victory. Schuylkill dominated the rebounding matchup for the contest, outrebounding Greater Allegheny 58-39. Schuylkill also did a great job distributing the ball during the contest, totaling 22 as a team.

Stevenson led Schuylkill with a 14-point, 14 rebound double-double to go with 5 assists. Kassidy Ingram (Abington, PA / Trinity High School) also finished with a double-double, notching 10 points and 11 rebounds. Nadia King (Harrisburg, PA / Susquehanna Township High School) added 12 points and 5 rebounds. Serena Jones (New Ringgold, PA / Tamaqua High School) contributed with 11 points and 7 rebound off the bench.

With the win, Schuylkill takes on Penn State Lehigh Valley in the championship round of the PSUAC playoffs. The game will take place at Penn State University's Bryce Jordan Center on Monday, March 6th at 3:45 p.m.
