Slow Second Half Dooms Men's Basketball In 72-51 Loss to Penn Highlands

McKeesport, Pa- A 35-12 run by Penn Highlands to begin the second half turned out to be too steep an incline for the Greater Allegheny men's basketball team, as they were beaten 72-51 in their final match of the USCAA Classic.

In a close first half, a late layup from sophomore forward Nick Dizon (Woodland Hills, PA) would give GA a 25-21 lead.  Penn Highlands quickly tied the game at 27-27 in the opening minutes of the second half, before exploding into their scoring run.

Freshman guard Rakim Reedy (Summit Academy, PA) led Greater Allegheny in scoring with 13 points, while fellow freshman guard Eric Cottman (Mastery Charter, PA) scored 12.  Junior forwards Aaron Byrd (Dr. Henry A. Wise, MD) and Nick Dizon both hauled in double-digit rebound totals, at 10 and 11, respectively.

The loss drops Greater Allegheny's record to 1-1 overall.  The men will return to action next Wednesday, November 14 for a 7 PM game at Edinboro.
