GA Men's Basketball Suffers Narrow Defeat over Penn State Fayette, 66-59

McKeesport, Pa. - Junior guard Petrie Addison (Fort Myers, Fla./Florida Christian) netted 27 points and 13 boards in the Penn State Fayette drop in the final day of the 2013 Penn State Greater Allegheny Basketball Tip-Off Tournament.

Addison and senior forward Aaron Byrd (Upper Marlboro, Md./Dr. Henry A. Wise) inflated GA in the early minutes of the first half, contributing twelve points combined in the first eight minutes. Battling back and forth, Fayette took the lead midway through the first half and retained it, outshooting GA 40-25. Senior forward Nick Dizon (Pittsburgh, Pa./Woodland Hills) tallied 13 of the 25 points to head into halftime.

Greater Allegheny's defense allowed only eight points in over ten minutes of play to boost the offensive drive, inching closer to the Fayette lead. Points contribued from sophomore guard Jordan Zeer (Victoria, British Colombia/New Westminster), junior guard Montel Pashel (Pittsburgh, Pa./Peabody), Addison and Dizon closed the deficit to 48-46 with the final ten minutes to play.

Addison notched nine consecutive points to bring GA to a 59 point mirror with Fayette. Fayette's defensive held Greater Allegheny scoreless in the final five minutes of action.The back-and-forth battle ended in the demise of Greater Allegheny, as Fayette overcame 66-59.

Dizon and Addison achieved double-double's in the match; Dizon adding 18 points and 11 rebounds.

With Addison's stand-out effort in the tournament, he achieved the distinction of All-Tournament team to close the weekend.

Penn State Greater Allegheny will next see play Tuesday, as they travel to California University of Pennsylvania for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off.
