Byrd Puts up 37 in Loss at Pitt-Titusville

Titusville, Pa -  Despite keeping a close first half, the Penn State Greater Allegheny men's basketball team falls to Pitt-Titusville by a 95-71 decision, Wednesday night.

A tight first twenty minutes saw contributions from a number of Greater Allegheny men's student-athletes. Junior guard Petrie Addison (Fort Myers, Fla./Florida Christian), senior forward Aaron Byrd (Upper Marlboro, Md./Dr. Henry A. Wise) and sophomore guard Chris Dixon (Pittsburgh, Pa./Steel Valley) all earned points for GA within the first five minutes of play. Addison nailed a huge 3-pointer to tie the game at 11. Junior guard Montel Pashel (Pittsburgh, Pa./Peabody) followed Addison with two completed free-throws.

Sophomore guard Jordan Zeer (Victoria, British Columbia/New Westminster) dropped a jumper to add to the GA tally. Combinations from Addison, Byrd and Dixon comprised of the rest of the first half's scoring. GA fluctuated with Titusville just a hand full of times for the lead, ending the half in a 38-36 trailing.

A quiet start of the second half ultimately was the demise for GA, as Titusville went on a 19-3 run in the first four minutes of action. Byrd worked hard as he managed to bucket 22 points in the second half to assist the squad's offense. The deficit was too much to bare even with contributions from all of the aforementioned athletes. The GA Lions went on to take the brunt end of a 95-71 decision against Titusville.

Byrd put up a season-high 37 points and eleven rebounds despite the loss. Addison put up 16 points with eleven boards alongside Dixon's eight points and ten rebounds.

The men's team won't see action again until December 2nd, as they travel with the women's team for a double-header against Westmoreland County Community College. The men are set to begin at 7 p.m.
