Greater Allegheny Men's Hoopers Drop Final Game in Weekend Roadtrip

Lehman, Pa. - The Penn State Greater Allegheny men's basketball team closed out their weekend road trip against Penn State Wilkes-Barre, Saturday afternoon, as GA went on to suffer the 92-79 loss.

The game began with Greater Allegheny hot out of the gate, as they were the first to see their side of the score swell. Junior guard Petrie Addison (Fort Myers, Fla./Florida Christian) and senior forward Aaron Byrd (Upper Marlboro, Md./Dr. Henry A. Wise) were the first GA Lions to boost the tally. Sophomore Chris Dixon (Pittsburgh, Pa./Steel Valley) shined as the guard hammered two consecutive three-point shots to flux GA up 10-4 less than three minutes into the game.

Freshman forward Carl London (Easton, Pa./Coatesville) achieved a three-pointer to double Wilkes-Barre, 14-7. Just thirty seconds later, senior forward Nick Dizon (Pittsburgh, Pa./Woodland Hills) capitalized on a jumper to improve Greater Allegheny's tally. Addison and Dixon teamed up for eight combined to continue to roll for GA, 23-19. Byrd and Dizon continued the swell, as the GA offense was ahead of Wilkes-Barre, 33-30. Byrd and London each earned a free-throw apiece. Despite Addison dropping seven more before halftime, the Greater Allegheny Lions found themselves on the short end of the stick going into the second half, 50-42.

Four Greater Allegheny student-athletes cashed in the first nine minutes of battle against Wilkes-Barre, trying to earn the advantage back. Dixon hit a clutch three-pointer with eleven minutes to play, closing the deficit to just four. Buckets contributed from London and Addison were just not enough to propel Greater Allegheny back to the lead, as Wilkes-Barre just continued to capitalize for score against their PSUAC opponent. Dixon closed the forty minutes with another three-pointer while the final seconds wound down. Greater Allegheny's victorious first half did not carry over into the second, as the Penn State Greater Allegheny men's basketball team suffered another loss on the road, dropping their record to 1-10, 0-3 PSUAC.

Addison finished the game with 28 points, eleven rebounds, three assists and two steals. Dixon completed 5-of-11 from the floor along with bucketing both free-throw attempts. He dropped 16 points with nine boards. Byrd and Dizon added 12 points apiece toward the GA tally. Dizon had eight rebounds as Byrd posted seven.

As a team, Greater Allegheny shot 57.6% (19-for-33) from the free-throw line alongside out-rebounding Wilkes-Barre 46-40. The team completed 42.9% (27-of-63) from the floor.
