Scranton, Pa. - With a double-double performance from sophomore forward George Prota (Elizabeth, Pa./Elizabeth Forward), the Penn State Greater Allegheny men's basketball team took their fifth Penn State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) victory of the season over Penn State Worthington-Scranton, Saturday afternoon, by the tally of 78-67.

Sophomore guard Jordon Payne (McKeesport, Pa./McKeesport) slapped dpwn the first bucket of the game with a three-pointer before he knocked down another, 6-2 GA.  Junior forward Curtis Newby (Sharon, Pa./Sharon) put up four points from the foul line as senior forward Jumanne Butler-McDaniel (Franklin, N.J./Cardinal McCarrick) took down a jumper. Junior guard Denzel Boyer-London (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville) put up a free-throw as Payne added another jumper, GA ahead 15-12.

Freshman guard Connor Paoletti (Elizabeth, Pa./Elizabeth Forward) added a jumper as both Payne and sophomore guard Juwan Ledbetter (Pittsburgh, Pa./Taylor Allderdice) laid down a trey each, holding onto the lead 23-22. Newby added five points as Prota, Ledbetter, Alli and Butler-McDaniel put up jumpers. Junior guard Khari Hicks (East Hills, Pa./Imani Christian Academy) and Ledbetter continued with treys. Butler-McDaniel dashed the last point of the half from the foul line, 43-28 Greater Allegheny.

Prota and Butler-McDaniel added jumpshots as junior guard Jeremy McMunn (Pittsburgh, Pa./Woodland Hills) put up four points. Butler-McDaniel noted two as Newby put up a jumper and one to mark the score at a 56-44 Greater Allegheny advantage with twelve minutes remaining in regulation.

Boyer-London continued as Prota and Newby contributed six each, 72-58. Payne put up four points as McMunn completed the final points for GA, winning the game 78-67.

Prota completed 66.6% (6-of-9) of his shots from the floor for a double-double in the contest with 12 points, 13 rebounds and two blocks. Newby lifted the score 18 points with nine boards, two assists, one steal and a block as Payne laid on 15 points, one assist and a steal. Butler-McDaniel defended with ten rebounds, one steal and a block with nine points and two assists.

As a team, Greater Allegheny out-rebounded Worthington-Scranton 54-31 as the men shot 64% (16-of-25) from the foul line and 36.4% (28-of-77) from the floor. The Lions managed 24 points off turnovers and 18 points off second-chance.

Greater Allegheny (11-4, 5-1 PSUAC) looks onward to their next PSUAC contest at Penn State New Kensington, Tuesday evening. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
