Lemont Furnace, Pa. - After a bitter Penn State University Athletic Conference loss this week over Penn State York, the Penn State Greater Allegheny men's basketball team took a 99-87 triumph over Penn State Fayette, Tuesday night.

Greater Allegheny jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first three minutes of action as four different Lions contributed. Sophomore guard Jordon Payne (McKeesport, Pa./McKeesport) kicked things off with a free-throw as senior forward Jumanne Butler-McDaniel (Franklin, N.J./Cardinal McCarrick) and sophomore forward George Prota (Elizabeth, Pa./Elizabeth Forward) went back-and-forth for the next ten. Junior guard Jeremy McMunn (Pittsburgh, Pa./Woodland Hills) hammered down a three-pointer to finish the run.

Butler-McDaniel dropped a jumper as McMunn laid down a pair of treys outside the arc, 22-5. Junior guard Curtis Newby (Sharon, Pa./Sharon) and senior forward Moe Alli (Edison, N.J./Cardinal McCarrick) added points from the foul line before sophomore guard Khari Hicks (East Hills, Pa./Imani Christian Academy) hit a layup, 28-17. 

Junior guard Denzel Boyer-London (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville) added a free-throw point as McMunn, Newby and Hicks added points from the paint. Newby added six as sophomore guard Juwan Ledbetter (Pittsburgh, Pa./Taylor Allderdice) noted a layup and one, 46-33 with three minutes left until half. Hicks put up a layup as Butler-McDaniel and Newby added foul shots to close the first half, Greater Allegheny out-in-front 51-43.

Newby and McMunn added layups to start the second half before Butler-McDaniel made a pair of free-throws. Payne made a layup before Newby snapped with five points, 64-57 five minutes into the new half. Alli put up a three-pointer and a layup before Hicks made a pair of layups of his own, GA continuing to swell. 

Payne nailed a three-pointer to stretch the lead to ten before Prota and Ledbetter added points from the foul line. Newby, Prota and Hicks marked points in the paint as Prota, Payne and Alli finished the scoring drive making foul shots, Greater Allegheny taking the win 99-87.

Both Newby and Prota marked a double-double in the win, as Newby added 20 points, ten rebounds, one steal and one block with 83.3% (10-of-12) of his shots falling from the foul line, while Prota put up 15 points and 12 boards on 90% (9-of-10) of his free-throws. McMunn zipped up 15 points, five rebounds, an assist and a steal as Butler-McDaniel put up 12 points, three rebounds and three steals. Hicks came off the bench for 12 points, eight boards and a steal.

As a team, Greater Allegheny out-rebounded Fayette 46-34 as the men added 78.3% (36-of-46) of their shots from the foul line along side 45.3% (29-of-64) from the floor. The Lions managed 48 points the paint, 19 points off second-chance and 17 points off turnovers.

Greater Allegheny (17-5, 11-2 PSUAC) looks forward to a home Penn State University Athletic Conference contest. Penn State New Kensington comes to Wunderley Gymnasium for a 7 p.m. tip-off.
