Men's Basketball Makes PSUGA History

2019-2020 was a pinnacle season for the Penn State Greater Allegheny men's basketball team. This season, the men ended their regular season with a record of 17-8 as the teams was ranked second in the Pennsylvania State University Athletics Conference. Their successful season continued when they were given a bid for the United States Collegiate Athletic Association National Championship Tournament, where, as the 10th seed, they made school history by advancing to the championship game. Head Coach Tyler Care shared his excitement on making history this season: "It feels incredible to have been able to have the type of consistent success that we have had here the last 6 years. Making it all the way to the national championship was a wonderful experience for our players."

Coach Care stated that the team prepared for this tournament in the same way they had prepared for any other game throughout the season, by focusing on health and conditioning. He made sure that all his players were well taken care of and physically prepared: "We did premium on making sure all of the players got plenty of treatment from our trainer so that we were well rested and healthy, because we knew that we could potentially play 4 games in 4 days."

During the tournament, Coach Care claimed his 100th win as a coach at PSUGA. Coach Care described this special experience for him and the team after that game: "Winning 100 games was always a goal of mine since I started coaching. However, it is really a testament to all of the amazing players that I had the opportunity to coach, as well as the all coaches and other people who have helped me get to this amazing milestone. Without all of the players who have come through the program, Coach Prince and Coach Khiri, this program would not be where it is today. I really couldn't have picked a better way to get my 100th win. It was exciting and very emotional. After the game, getting to celebrate in the locker room with all the players and getting to hug my dad and brother was something I will never forget."

Now that the 2019-2020 season has officially come to an end, Coach Care provided some reflections for his players and coaches on their exciting season: "To my players, I want to say I am incredibly proud of each of you and very proud of everything we were able to accomplish this season. To my assistants, I want to say thank you! There is no way we would have accomplished what we did without all of the work you both put in this year."

The Penn State Greater Allegheny community cannot wait to see what next season has in hold for the men's basketball team and congratulates both Coach Care and the team for the season's accomplishments.
