PSUGA Men's Basketball Looks to Stay Hot Against CCAC-Boyce

The Penn State Greater Allegheny Men's Basketball team (1-0, 0-0) will look to continue their early season offensive success when they take on CCAC-Boyce (0-2, 0-0) on Friday on day one of the PSUGA Tip-off tournament. After scoring a record 120 points in their opener, PSUGA showed just what they are capable of on offense and they want to continue that this season.

After falling behind 11-10 in their opener with Butler County CC, PSUGA went on an 11-2 run that opened up the scoring and they never looked back taking that all the way to the victory. Butler County CC tied it up halfway through the first half, but PSUGA was able to stay in front and a 62 point second half secured their victory.

It was a big day for junior Kenny Rouse (Duquesne, PA./West Mifflin HS) who picked up a triple double in the win with 22 points, 10 assists, and 12 rebounds. Rouse led the team in both assists and rebounds while finishing second in points. Senior Jordon Payne (McKeesport, PA./McKeesport HS) led the scoring with 29 points in the win.

It was a complete team effort for PSUGA with many of the players who got in contributing to the win. That is something that head coach Tyler Care is looking for them to do down the stretch as they chase another Penn State University Athletic Conference Championship.

CCAC-Boyce enters Friday's game on a but of a down swing after dropping their first two games of the season, both coming at the hands of Grove City's JV team. After scoring just 18 points in the first half, Boyce busted out for 34 second half points in their last game, but the damage had been done as they fell 64-54.

PSUGA has beaten CCAC-Boyce in their two previous matchups including an 80-72 win a year ago in the PSUGA tip-off tournament. Payne led the way with 20 points in the game while Rouse scored 14 points.

Tip-off for tonights game is scheduled for 8 p.m. and will be the second game of the PSUGA Tip-off tournament inside the Wunderly gym. The first game will feature PSU-New Kensington facing Southern State CC at 6 p.m.
