McKeesport, PA. – The Penn State Greater Allegheny Men’s Basketball Team (2-0, 0-0) eclipsed the 120 point mark for the second game in a row when they defeated CCAC-Boyce (0-3, 0-0) on Saturday 121-65. Four different players finish in double-digits on the day in another record-breaking effort as for the second game in a row they set a new program record scoring 121 points in the win.

It was all PSUGA right from the get go as they scored the first eight points of the game before CCAC-Boyce was able to get on the board. There was not a time in the game where PSUGA did not have the lead and their big offensive contributors all had big days. In total, four different PSUGA players finished in double digits in the win and 17 of the 20 players who entered the game contributed in some way on offense.

PSUGA scored a season high 63 points in the first half to head into the locker room with a 63-40 lead. The second half saw head coach Tyler Care be able to empty his bench as everyone who was dressed got in the game. Four of the five starters finished in double digits including a team high 17 points from both Jordon Payne (McKeesport, PA./McKeesport HS) and Kenny Rouse (Duquesne, PA./West Mifflin HS).

Rouse led the team with seven rebounds while George Prota (Elizabeth, PA./Elizabeth Forward HS) and Makis Rivera (Pittsburgh, PA./Imani Christian Academy) finished right behind with 14 points and four rebounds apiece in the win. Payne also led the passing game finishing the night with a team high six assists.

PSUGA had a chance for many of their bench players to come in at the end of the game and they performed well with Evan Miller (Pittsburgh, PA./Allderdice HS) and James Fields (Parkville, MD./Loch Raven HS) leading the charge with four points apiece. The defense stepped up and played well throughout the night as well holding their opponent to under 70 points.

PSUGA now moves to 2-0 for the second year in a row and have eclipsed the 120 point mark for the second time this season. Through the first two games, they have picked up their play each time and they look to continue that trend as the season goes on. PSUGA is chasing their fourth straight PSUAC playoff appearance and a fourth PSUAC Championship.

It is a quick turn around for PSUGA as they are back in action tomorrow afternoon when they face Southern State Community College in day two of the PSUGA Tip-off Tournament. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m. inside the Wunderly Gymnasium.
