McKeesport, Pa. – The Penn State Greater Allegheny Women’s Basketball Team (0-3, 0-0) dropped their third straight contest to start the season as they fell to Point Park (3-1, 0-0) on Wednesday 94-44. The offense started out slow for PSUGA and they never had any time to bounce back.
Point Park controlled the first quarter scoring 17 points to PSUGA’s eight. The PSUGA women would try to fight back scoring double digits in the second and third quarter but Point Park kept pouring on the offense scoring 22 or more points in each of the three remaining quarters to pick up the victory.
Alex Hall (Washington D.C./Bell HS) would lead the offensive attack for PSUGA collecting a season high 15 points while grabbing five rebounds and picking up one assist. Hall was one of three PSUGA players to finish in double digits as Andrea Burroughs (New Rochelle, Ny./New Rochelle) dropped 11 points and Brandy Taylor (Pittsburgh, Pa./Imani Christian Academy) put up 10 on the day.
Burroughs also led the team in rebounds falling one short of collecting her second straight double-double finishing with nine rebounds. Tina Clybourn (Pittsburgh, Pa./Brashear HS) and Jayla Ellis (Pittsburgh, Pa./Woodland Hills) finished the night tied for the team lead in assists with four a piece.
One of the positives to take away from this game is the fact that PSUGA shot a lot better from the floor. They went 20-54 (37%) from the field, 2-9 (22.2%) from beyond the arc, and 2-5 (40%) from the free throw line. They keep trying to improve every single week in order to try and capture that elusive first victory of the season. They have shown glimpses of being able to score at times but it hasn’t come through consistently yet this season.
The ladies will be taking their first road trip of the season next Tuesday night when they go to face Cincinnati Clermont on November 14th. The ladies will be looking to find their groove on the road as their next eight contests all come on the road.
